The Red Not Chili Peppers rocked their way into San Diego for their latest tour stop. They are not to be mistaken for The Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they might as well be them as they are a tribute band for them. I personally have never seen a tribute band, but this one piqued my interest.
Before we get into The Red Not Chili Peppers, I must mention their opener, Just A Girl ( A No Doubt and Gwen Stefani tribute band). They are local to SoCal and advertised as “Thee definitive No Doubt and Gwen Stefani Tribute Band”. Led by Andrea Esperanza Martinez aka “MexicGwen”, they will leave you wanting more. I swear it was like the actual Gwen Stefani was in the room with us. Close your eyes or look away and you’ll see for yourself. They brought the energy that was perfect for our main group, The Red Not Chili Peppers.
The Red Not Chili Peppers got their start in 2009, quickly becoming one of the most popular Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute bands. They have been to Dubai, Mexico, Brazil and Japan, even with this success, they still have big shoes to fill. Clearly they are doing it by bring the energy.
When they came onto the stage, you would have thought the actual Red Hot Chili Peppers were there by the crowds screams. The fans were having a blast, dancing, yelling the lyrics and even crowd surfing.
The set spanned about every decade of music the Chili Peppers have, so there was something for everyone in the crowd. Young and old, this group had it all. If you need your pepper fix, this is the band to see. With a few more stops on their tour, you don’t want to miss it!
